What is the St. Alexius Kickball Tournament (SAKT)?

SAKT 2018 is a one-day, coed kickball fundraising tournament where proceeds will enhance the region’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) services by assisting in the purchase of a transport incubator for our NICU Transport Team. A transport incubator is medical equipment that allows our NICU nurses the ability to safely and quickly transport newborns and neonates needing a higher level of care from rural communities to CHI St. Alexius Health’s NICU or from our NICU to more specialized medical centers such as Mayo Clinic. With a consistent average of 25 transports per year the transport incubator is even more critical to ensure the wellbeing of our region’s babies.

Team/Individual Players and Captain Information, Rules and Waivers

Teams: Players must be 16 years of age or older. Teams must consist of 10-15 players (15 is max) with at least five women on a team (see a copy of the rules for more information).

Individual Player(s): If you don’t have enough people to create a SAKT 2018 team you and your friends can register as individuals and we’ll place you on a team. On Monday, September 17, if we do not have enough people who registered as individuals to create teams, you will be notified and will have the option to refund your registration or to make it a straight donation to help purchase the NICU transport incubator. By Wednesday, September 19, you will find out your team’s official name and tournament schedule.

Team/Individual Players Registration Fee and Information

As part of the registration fee, every team is guaranteed at least two games and every participant receives a SAKT 2018 t-shirt. (Teams/Individuals that register prior to Wednesday, September 5, are guaranteed SAKT 2018 t-shirts. Those who register after September 5 are not guaranteed t-shirts, but we will do our best to provide them.)

Team Fees:

  • Early-bird registration is $200 per team through Wednesday, August 31.
  • Regular registration is $225 per team from Thursday, September 1 through Friday, September 14. (Cut-off is at midnight.)

Individual Player Fees:

  • Early-bird registration is $30 per individual through Wednesday, August 31.
  • Regular registration is $40 per individual from Thursday, September 1 through Friday, September 14. (Cut-off is at midnight.)
  • You will be notified on Monday, September 17, if we do not have enough people registered as individuals to create teams. You will have the option to refund your registration or elect to make it a straight donation to help purchase the NICU transport incubator.

Team/Individual Fundraising Challenge Information

When you fundraise, not only can you receive great prizes, but your efforts will be matched. Bismarck Air Medical and other sponsors are matching donations through the Team/Individual Fundraising Challenge up to $10,000!

Fundraising teams: Fundraising teams can consist of those individuals who are not on your SAKT tournament team. If you know of someone who wants to be involved, but can’t physically play the day of SAKT, have them join your team’s fundraising efforts.

Top Fundraising Team Prize: Each player will receive a $10 gift card to a local pizza establishment for a team party!

Fundraising individuals: You can fundraise by creating an individual fundraising webpage and by soliciting cash/check donations. Those who fundraise more than $100 are eligible for the top individual fundraiser prize and to win prizes during SAKT 2018 drawings. If you fundraise more than $250, you are entered into the drawings additional times and are also recognized at the following fundraising levels on the post-event webpage.

Fundraising Levels

  • SAKT Ballers: $250 - $499 name goes into prize drawings five times
  • SAKT Kickers: $500 - $999 name goes into prize drawings 10 times
  • SAKT Home Runners: $1,000 or more name goes into prize drawings 20 times

Top Individual Fundraiser Prize: A stand-up paddle board

Donations and Receipts: Donations are tax deductible. Check donations can be written to CHI St. Alexius Health Foundation. Please legibly write a donor’s contact information on the donation form if a donor gives cash or check donations so a tax receipt can be mailed. Please turn in all donations and completed donation form(s) to your team captain (if on a registered/sponsored team) prior to tournament check-in, which is Friday, September 21.

Best Uniform Challenge

Compete for the title of “Best Uniform” in three categories:

  • Animals
  • 1960’s Throw Back
  • Fashionable (open category)

We want teams to get creative. At the same time uniforms must be appropriate as this is a fundraiser for children. Uniforms are judged the day of the tournament by the SAKT Ambassador’s family and SAKT committee members. The winning teams are announced mid-day of the tournament.

Tournament Check-In and Bracket Info

Tournament brackets will be emailed to team captains and individual players by Wednesday, September 19. (Individual players will also find out their team’s name on that day.) Team Captains and Individual Players must attend tournament check-in sometime between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Friday, September 21, at Mattress Firm on Expressway located at 413 E Bismarck Expressway.
