Great Plains Rehabilitation Services’ goal is to improve the overall quality of life of patients with limitations imposed by aging or injury, disease, or lack of development. This process occurs through offering these individuals external devices known as an orthosis (brace) and prosthesis (artificial limb). Great Plains orthotic and prosthetic clinicians evaluate, design, manufacture, assemble, fit and adjust braces for those in need of physical support.
Clinicians begin with a patient assessment and then form a treatment plan with the patient, the patient’s healthcare provider and other allied professionals. Great Plains has a wide range of off-the-shelf or customer-made braces for your individual needs.

Prosthetics is the science of evaluating, designing, producing, fitting and providing a prosthesis or artificial limb. Prosthetists begin with a patient assessment and form a treatment plan with the patient, the patient’s healthcare provider and other allied professionals. The prosthetist will continue to follow the patient, improving the quality of life for amputees.

Great Plains Rehabilitation Services provides assistive technology to individuals whose mobility or ambulatory efforts are impaired. Each individual who requires seating and mobility services is assessed to determine which mobility device, seating apparatus or other specialized adaptive equipment is most appropriate. Our goal is to improve the overall quality of life for those who are physically challenged. Power Mobility |
New guidelines set forth by Medicare and other insurance companies, make it imperative that a thorough evaluation be performed when prescribing power mobility equipment. Great Plains offers a seating and mobility clinic to evaluate individuals with wheelchair or power mobility needs.
Pressure mapping provides computerized information measuring pressure while seated in a wheelchair. This information helps determine the most appropriate cushion for an individual as well as educates the wheelchair user and caregivers on how to perform pressure relieving techniques.
Pediatric Mobility
Mobility devices used by children are typically able to be modified to meet their ever changing needs. The frames and seating systems on pediatric wheelchairs have adjustments to accommodate growth. These growth adjustments are necessary to extend the useful life of the wheelchair and provide a functional and comfortable fit for the child as he/she grows.
Custom seating solutions are available to meet specific needs. From very basic seat cushions and backs, to custom molded seating systems, Great Plains ensures individuals are fit properly in their equipment.
Manual Wheelchairs
Manual wheelchairs come in a variety of sizes and weights; from standard weight to ultra-light wheelchairs. An assessment is performed to determine which wheelchair and features are recommended to best meet individual needs. Great Plains has a variety of wheelchairs for trial and simulation purposes to assist with the decision making process. Accessories are available for many of the wheelchairs and power mobility solutions offered at Great Plains.
The seating and mobility specialists at Great Plains have more than 30 years of combined experience in seating and mobility. They are certified in RESNA and NRRTS. Services are available for all ages.
Seating and Mobility ClinicsIndividuals who attend the clinic go through a functional assessment and are asked a series of questions related to their specific situation. Family members and caregivers are encouraged to attend. The information gathered from the assessment is used to make recommendations for specific equipment applications.

Breast Prostheses
If you decide that breast reconstruction isn’t right for you but still want a breast shape, a prosthesis (also called a breast form) can help you look balanced without surgery. Great Plains employs ABC Certified Mastectomy Fitters (CFom). A trained Great Plains representative may come to your hospital room and provide you a free temporary breast form, and information about the long-term prostheses and insurance reimbursement.
A breast prosthesis is commonly fit after a mastectomy and is intended to simulate an actual breast. The off-the shelf breast prostheses come in a range of shapes and sizes and materials: silicone gel, foam, or fiberfill interior. Some prostheses are weighted and some are not. One of Great Plains’ wholesalers offers 86 sizes and shapes. Many prostheses slip into a pocket in a specially designed bra or camisole. Others come with adhesive patches that attach to the upper edge of your breast area. The custom sculpted breast prosthesis is molded to fit an individual’s chest by taking an impression of both breasts and sculpting a mirror image. The back of the prosthesis provides an intimate, comfortable fit against your chest wall.
