CHI St. Alexius Health Consistently Ranks Highest in North Dakota for Safety and Quality

CHI St. Alexius Health Bismarck is the highest rated hospital for safety and quality in North Dakota. They consistently hold a B-Grade in Safety by the Leapfrog Group and a 4-Star Quality Rating by CMS. When these scores are combined, CHI St. Alexius is the only hospital to have achieved these scores with regard to providing quality and safe care to patients.

“The CMS 4-star quality rating and the Leapfrog safety grade illustrate the commitment our physicians and associates have to providing the highest level of care to our patients,” said Kurt Schley, Bismarck President. “Our Benedictine tenant is to receive all as Christ and there is no better way to receive a patient as Christ than to provide them with high quality health care services.”

The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization committed to improving health care quality and safety. The Leapfrog Group “grades” hospitals A-F on their safety, using up to 28 national performance measures using data from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the American Hospital Association's annual survey, CDC, CMS, and the Leapfrog Hospital Survey. Taken together, those performance measures produce a single letter grade representing a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors.

“It is with great humility and gratitude that we accept the affirmation from CMS and Leapfrog that we are carrying out the successful Mission of the Benedictine Sisters who Founded St Alexius in 1885,” stated Dr. Kevin Dahmen, Chief of Medical Staff.
