CHI St. Alexius Health Consistently Ranks Highest in North Dakota for Safety and Quality

CHI St. Alexius Health Bismarck is the highest rated hospital for safety and quality in North Dakota. They consistently hold a B-Grade in Safety by the Leapfrog Group and a 4-Star Quality Rating by CMS. When these scores are combined, CHI St. Alexius is the only hospital to have achieved these scores with regard to providing quality and safe care to patients.

“The CMS 4-star quality rating and the Leapfrog safety grade illustrate the commitment our physicians and associates have to providing the highest level of care to our patients,” said Kurt Schley, Bismarck President. “Our Benedictine tenant is to receive all as Christ and there is no better way to receive a patient as Christ than to provide them with high quality health care services.”

National Nurses Day: Honoring the contributions and strength of nurses

It is National Nurses Day, and this year has truly proven the strength these frontline workers show on a daily basis. Each week nurses work long hours putting all their energy while on the clock into each patient they come across, and every day they go in they aren’t really sure what to expect. “You can start the day with two relatively stable patients. And by the end of the day, both of them could be completely changed hemodynamically and completely different picture than what it looked like 12 hours ago,” shared Meghan Charley, a Sanford ICU nurse.

Dr. J’Patrick Fahn, a critical care medical director, on CDC’s new guidance

CHI St. Alexius Health Recognized for Higher Quality and Cost-Efficiency in Maternity Care

CHI St. Alexius Health is proud to be recognized by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota with a Blue Distinction® Centers+ (BDC+) for Maternity Care designation, as part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program.

Racial and ethnic disparities are persistent and widespread across maternal healthcare, primarily driven by socioeconomic status, geographic location, and implicit provider bias. Compared to similarly developed countries such as Canada, Germany, and Australia, the United State has the highest maternal mortality rate (MMR), at approximately 17.4 deaths per 100,000 live births, with the MMR steadily increasing since 2000[1]. According to the CDC, non-Hispanic Black women are two to three times more likely to die from preventable or treatable pregnancy-related complications compared to white women[2].
