CHI St. Alexius Health says 'thank you' to first responders

CHI St. Alexius Health Williston hosted the First Annual First Responders Appreciation Picnic, and this year was their best turn out to date.

Jean's Garden Party was a hit

Jean Nelson knew firsthand just what it means to garden from the heart. The slogan, often seen on garden paving stones and banners, was something her friends and family say she elevated to an art form, with all of her volunteerism on behalf of the CHI St.

Anderson Receives Outstanding Rural Health Provider Award

Dr. Wayne Anderson, Chief Medical Officer and general surgeon of CHI St. Alexius Health Williston, will receive the Outstanding Rural Health Provider award at the 2022 Rural and Public Health Awards Banquet, which will recognize outstanding North Dakota rural health and public health advocates for their accomplishments. The award is presented to a healthcare clinician whose practice is in rural North Dakota and has made an important contribution to his/her community and area. The awards banquet is June 9 at 6:00 pm Central, in Grand Forks. 

Dr. Anderson has been with CHI since 1994. In that time, additional duties including serving as clinic professor of surgery in medical education at the University of North Dakota, and a preceptor at the University of Mary, Rocky Mountain College, and various other institutions.

2nd Extraordinary Nurse of 2022 Recognized at CHI St. Alexius Health Williston

Nurses at CHI St. Alexius Health Williston are being honored with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses ®. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation's mission to recognize the extraordinary, compassionate nursing care they provide patients and families every day. 

The DAISY Award recipient of May is Edith Cha Ong, RN on MedSurg. Cha Ong’s nomination letter from a previous patient praised her patience and kindness during their 7-year old daughter’s hospital stay. The nomination letter, written both by Cha Ong’s young patient and her family, goes on to thank her for taking her to “the toy room” and for “taking good care of me. I hope to see you soon.”

CHI St. Alexius Health Williston announces Fun Run

ACHI St. Alexius Health announces the Sugar Bust Diabetes 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run taking place on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Spring Lake Park. This event is for everyone, from competitive runners to those who want to enjoy a walk or jog supporting a great cause! The day will consist of a 5K Run, 1 Mile Walk and 1 Mile Kids Fun Run. Participants will enjoy inflatables, outdoor games, food and fellowship following the race.

Consider these statistics from the Organ Procurement and Transplant Network:

More than 100,000 people are on the national transplant waiting list. Every 9 minutes another person is added to the transplant waiting list. 17 people die each day waiting for an organ transplant. Every donor can save 8 lives and improve the lives of 75 more.

In the Upper Midwest, an estimated 3,400 people are waiting for a transplant at any given time.
