Prior to participating in an athletic activity, it is important for every child to have a sports physical. In addition, students participating in NDHSAA sanctioned athletic activities must have a completed physical clearance form on file with their school. The following happens during the sports physical exam:
- Review child’s medical history
- Check the child’s blood pressure, weight and height
- Listen to the heart
- Check the child’s muscles, bones, and joints
- Vision screening
Typically, insurance does not cover sports physicals. However, for your convenience each CHI St. Alexius Health location offers a cash pay option for a sports physical at the time of your visit. The claim will not be run through insurance.
If a more comprehensive physical exam is needed, please request a well-child exam which includes a sports physical. A well-child visit is not part of the special sports physical rate and will be submitted to your insurance, possibly requiring a minimal copayment. For additional information on rates, contact the CHI St. Alexius Health location near you. To schedule a comprehensive well-child exam, see our listing of Primary Care providers here.
