Stroke

Spot a StrokeThe stroke team at CHI St. Alexius Health offers expert emergency stroke care and is trained to stop – or even reverse – the effects of stroke. Stroke is a major cause of disability and is the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S. alone. A stroke is a "brain attack" that is classified as a medical emergency.

CHI St. Alexius Health is the only hospital in the region capable of providing clot removal procedures for stroke patients. Interventional radiologists use a procedure called Thrombectomy to remove a blood clot under image-guided techniques.

Stroke care begins the minute you call 911. When the medic team arrives, they will immediately begin monitoring the patient and notify CHI St. Alexius Health’s Code Stroke Team to begin preparations. Emergency physicians, registered nurses and other team members are ready around the clock to provide lifesaving measures for people who are having a stroke. By achieving high standards, we’re able to improve outcomes for our patients.
