Expecting a New Arrival? Choosing Your Child's First Provider

Choosing a healthcare provider before your baby arrives is one of the smartest decisions you can make as an expectant parent. This proactive step allows you to establish a vital relationship with a trusted professional who will guide you through the exciting – and sometimes overwhelming – journey of your child's first years.

The Well Baby Clinic is free for newborns and infants up to one year of life. Maternity nurses record babies' weights and lengths, provide basic health evaluations, and answer questions. CHI St. Alexius Health also offers free weekly breastfeeding consultation with a certified lactation counselor. Postpartum depression screens offered as well. No appointment needed!

Regular Well Child Visits are the single most important tool for ensuring your child grows up healthy and strong. These essential appointments are a proactive partnership between you and your child’s provider, allowing us to:

Monitor physical, emotional, and social development.
Proactively prevent potential health problems.
Address any questions or concerns you may have.
Work collaboratively with your primary care provider.
Sports physicals can be done during a Well Child Visit.

Well Child visits are recommended once a year beginning at age 3; children under 3 typically require more frequent visits. Follow your provider's specific recommendations.

Birth to 15 Months Old

2-5 days old

15 Months to 3 Years Old
